Fall Fashion, Wine & PortoVinos

Cozy sweaters, booties, good friends and a glass of wine…. Need we say more?  Temperatures are dropping and as we pull out those warmer weather clothes that have been cooped up in our closet, there is a certain sense of excitement to see our old friends.  There is never a time of the year that a glass of wine doesn’t go well with, but we have managed to pair up some trendy fall outfits with a great glass of wine and why not throw it in a PortoVino if you are going to dress and drink to impress.

Sweaters, sweaters and more sweaters…

You just cannot go wrong with a sweater and a pair of jeans. There are tons of sweater options from knitted sweaters, chunky sweaters, oversized sweaters to duster sweaters and more.  Regardless of the look you are going for, a sweater and a pair of jeans can make you feel like a million bucks. The good thing is most of us have everything we need in our closet to achieve the look.

Going for a dressy look, try a more fitted sweater with skinny jeans and round it off with a pair of high boots. Black is always a good choice if you want that extra elegant look.  The off the shoulder look is trendy and gives an extra sexy look if you are heading out for the night with your special someone.

If you want to dress it down, go for a slouchy or chunky sweater added to some distressed jeans with some low heel ankle boots, and you have a great casual chic look.

The duster sweater is another favorite and super versatile.  It pairs great with anything - t shirts, button downs or a layered sweater look. Add a pair of skinny jeans from denim to black or white, there is so much versatility, you cannot go wrong. The shoes you choose will really impact the look. For a more elegant look go for some stilettos or high boots.  For a more hipster look add some army boots and for a more casual look try on some flats or even sneakers. However you decide to vary it, will be fabulous.

Each of these outfits, although versatile are perfect for your autumn outings. So we have to pair these great fall outfits with a red that is equally perfect for the season.  The Cabernet Franc does just that. According to drizzly.com, “It is the quintessential wine for fall sipping. Peppery and red-fruited, the wines ooze with earthy flavors of berries and spice, pairing gorgeously with all of fall's favorite flavors.”

Check out the Olga Raffault Chinon Picasses Cabernet Franc or feel free to experiment with whatever your local wine shop recommends.

Make sure you bring your PortoVino and we feel like this looks goes great with our PortoVino City Tote.  Available in a variety of colors, your outfit is now complete, wine purse and all.

Let your Jacket make the statement

Gone are the days where a jacket is just about keeping you warm.  Make a statement with the jacket you choose. From leather jackets to puffer jackets and short and long blazers, there is so much fun to be had with the jacket you choose.

Leather jackets are all the rage. You can switch up the color, the length and how many accents it has.  You can choose to pair it with an elegant skirt and booties or you can dress it down and it still chic with distressed jeans.  The great thing is a leather jacket is a staple for any closet and can be worn to dress up or down.

A puffer vest is a more casual look and great for running around town or to keep you warm during those outdoor events.  Wear it with a t-shirt or layered with one or more sweaters or shirts for a trendier look. Definitely recommending jeans with this look although a skirt and casual boots is a fun look too.

Blazers are always in style in one form or the other.  They are good transition outfits from work to going out or from home to a get-together with friends.  They can transcend so many occasions, we just love them! You Can use your blazer to add a pop of color or to have a conservative short and clean look, especially paired with skinny jeans or pants.

These crisp fall looks call for a mighty white to pair with them.  According to palatepress.xyz, the blended Rhônes are their go to wines for fall.  “The traditionally blended style of the Northern and Southern Rhône allows the winemaker to construct a cuvée that’s beautifully balanced.   All of these wines tend to be big with pronounced stone fruits (peaches, apricots), pome fruits (apples, pears), wild herbs (lavender, fennel, sage), and terrific mid-palate complexity. The very best have a long, savory finish, and while they’re usually meant to be drunk young, some can age beautifully, integrating and deepening further.”

Check out the Château Beauchene’s Côtes du Rhône “Grande Réserve” 2010. It delivers aromas of jasmine and quince, with waxy honeyed notes and bracing acidity. It seems somehow both fat and fresh, and has a languorous finish.

The PortoVino Tuscany Tote is a perfect match for these fall outfits.  It allows you to look fashionable at work yet equally appropriate at play.  With a double spout feature, you can offer both red and white wines for the evening.

The great thing about these suggestions is that most of these items already are already sitting in our closet right now.  We just needed a little inspiration. So next time you hit up that quintessential fall outing, you will be all set.  Just make sure to grab your friends and your PortoVino to enjoy your day’s adventure.

Cheers!
