Mother’s Day is coming fast and the team here at PortoVino thought we would get together to dream up some great gifts for Mom to make your gift giving search a little easier. Although gift giving is generally synonymous with spending money, we mixed it up a bit and offered up some under $25 solutions to each category so there are no excuses for showing mom you care.
SPA DAY
Give your Mom the gift of relaxation and revitalization by taking her to the spa. There is nothing better than spending time with Mom and getting pampered at the same time. There are so many variation of spa treatments. Depending on your budget, you can go to a local nail salon and get a mani/pedi together or if your budget allows for a splurge, find a local day spa or resort where they have a spa and surprise Mom with a treatment or 2. There is a whole menu of items from massages to body wraps to facials and more. Most spas have saunas, hot tubs, pools, exercise rooms so you can elongate your spa day to more than just the treatment. So grab a change of clothes and prepare to reconnect and get rejuvenated with Mom!
Under $25: Get creative, go to your local store and buy some DIY facials, masks and nail care products. Give your Mom a little spa kit, bottle of her favorite wine and a DIY coupon for a spa night together.
Memories in the making as you bask in your masks sipping on rose awaiting the revitalized you!
PAINTING & WINE
If getting artistic is Mom’s thing, there are some very cool art studios that involve painting and drinking wine….. What?! Yes, that’s a thing! The cool thing is you don’t have to be an artist, you can show up with your bottle of wine, and the studio will provide the canvas, paint and all the supplies. They will show you how to paint and you can get your ‘Picasso on’ while sipping your favorite rose.

AN ADVENTURE FOR THE DAY
By the time Mother’s Day comes around, the warmer weather really has appeared, tulips are in bloom and the birds are singing, so go enjoy the outdoors together. Pack a picnic lunch, a blanket, throw in a bottle of wine or Mom’s favorite beverage and plan on going for a hike, a bike ride, a drive or whatever you think Mom will like. Just plan it, make a cute invitation that you can gift to her and then take Mom out on an adventure. This is a perfect gift for the whole family to enjoy together. This one is sure to be a fun family outing with Mom and not break the bank.
WINE TASTING
In our 50 countries, 48 have a wine region. If you happen to have some wineries next to you, come up with a plan to visit a handful together. You can check out some wines, eat some tasty appetizers and enjoy each other’s company. Print out a map of the wineries, mark your stops and make a cute trail map. Create a DIY card inviting her to a wine day out and you have yourself a gift Mom will love.
Under $25: There are so many tasty wines at all price points, that you can make this happen with under $25. Buy 2 or 3 bottles of wine, depending on the deals you find out there and a couple of appetizers (cannot go wrong with a good french baguette and your choice of cheese). Make a DIY card for an evening of wine tasting at home full of fun and laughs. Plan to pull out some old photo albums or watch a favorite movie and make some memories!
MAKE A PHOTO BOOK
There is nothing nicer than receiving an album full of memories. With our phones these days, it is so easy to snap photos, so hopefully you have been doing that over the years. Go back and find some of the old favorite baby and toddler photos with Mom, sprinkle in some new favorites and you have what you need to make a photo album. There are many online photo book developers, such as shutterfly.com where you can easily upload your photos, choose your page colors and embellishments and just like that you are done. Allow a week or two for your book to be delivered. If you like the digital option but are running out of time, check out your local walgreens or target online as they also have these services. Assuming you have these stores locally, you can pick them up in a few days.
Under $25: Go ‘old school’ - buy a photo album and some fun embellishments at your local craft shop. Print out your photos and lay them out along with some memorabilia and embellishments and you’ve made your own photo album for Mom.
Either way you go, Mom will have something that will last forever.
After writing all these Mom Day gift ideas, we just realized, a PortoVino would be a perfect add-on to most of these gifts. Sorry, but just saying… If you have a PortoVino, make it extra fun by loading it with Mom’s favorite drink - from iced tea to prosecco to cold brew - don’t forget to bring it along.
No matter what you do or how much money you spend, the important thing is that you stop and tell Mom how much she means to you. Make a list of the things she has done for you that has made a difference in your life. Whether it is just sitting down with her over a cup of coffee and telling her what you feel or writing out a sweet card, it will mean the world to her. Too often we expect our actions to express our feelings, but we neglect to use our words. Take this Mother’s Day to let her know how much you appreciate her and love her. After all, isn’t that really what we all want - to know we are loved and have made a difference in someone’s life!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’s Out there - ❤ We appreciate you!
