Spring Break Getaway Ideas in the US

Ahhhhh Spring Break - it conjures up visions of sunny days, warm sand, frosty drinks and beautiful coastline.  What started out as a break for University students, has turned into a universally agreed upon excuse to take a vacation.  And why not? It is perfectly timed. Just when you think you can’t bear another minute of the cold, wintery weather, the promise of a warm escape is upon you.  Well Spring break 2020 is here and I personally think we could all use a little break. If you don’t already have plans, here are a few US destination getaways to check out.

San Diego, California

San Diego Skyline

With over 70 miles of pacific coastline in this sunny and mild year-round climate, there is definitely a beach calling your name.  You can lounge on the beach or join in on many of the water sports from surfing to kayaking. The thriving downtown has an historic old town lined with restaurants and shops and a Trolley Car. When you have had enough of the beaches and shopping, there are plenty of art galleries, an active naval fleet and a wonderful Zoo to visit.

Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottdale Sonoran Desert

You might not find the beach and sand here, but with an average of 299 sunny days a year, you will find plenty of warm weather.  If hiking and mountain biking, shopping and/or spa-ing are your thing, this is the right place for you. There are over 168 moderate trails in the valley of the sun, and even more resorts with spas and swimming pools.  Scottsdale is the place to go for your shopping spree with over 2500 luxury retailers and boutiques, you are sure to come home with something special.

Miami, Florida

Miami Beach

This Southern Florida island city is all about the beach, water activities, night life and upscale shopping.  There are 16 beaches in Miami where the Atlantic Ocean merges with the Carribean and the soft white sand and warm waters are simply idyllic. If lounging on the beach with a cocktail in one hand a favorite book in the other is your idea of a bliss, Miami just might be calling your name.  Once the sunsets, the nightlife will not disappoint. Depending on your idea of a good time after hours, you will find everything from clubbing to wineries, breweries, trendy bars and even just fine restaurants for a nice evening out.

New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans

There is no US City like it.  New Orleans oozes with culture - from its incredible food, unique architecture, non-stop art and music scene and phenomenal nightlife, this city should be on everyone’s bucket list spring break or not.  If you are more into exploring cities and culture, New Orleans is for you. Strolling in the French quarter, you can enjoy the creole cottage and townhouses while listening to jazz and dixieland music. Just outside of the city, you can visit a plantation or even the bayou.

There are undoubtedly so many other great places.  If you recommend any, we would love to hear from you.  Wherever you go, don't forget to bring along your trusted PortoVino bag.  If you are going to the beach, the waterproof Canvas Tote will be perfect for carrying your towels, beach essentials and whatever drink concoction you come up with.  If shopping is your thing, bring along any of the PortoVino purses which are fashionable, spacious and can quench your thirst en route.  Finally, if you are more of the outdoor enthusiast, ready to hike your break away, the PortoVino daypack will happily carry your water or any other beverage around.

Most importantly, where you go and whatever you do, just relax, unwind and thaw out!

Cheers!
PortoVino
