Yay! Springtime is just around the corner and personally, we could not be more excited. It is finally time to hang up those mittens and snow boots and get ready to enjoy sun-filled days. We have gathered some great ways to celebrate the arrival of spring keeping in mind social distancing. Spring is the time of new beginnings and even though we may not be able to travel right now and do the things we are used to, there are still some great ways to celebrate spring while keeping yourself and your family safe.
Take a Hike
Nothing better than feeling the sun on your face and breathing in that fresh spring air. Gather up your family and head to the hills and take a glimpse of the gorgeous spring wildflowers that are now in bloom. Pack a lunch and your favorite beverage in your PortoVino Daypack and spend the day in nature. Don’t forget to snap those photos catching spring in full bloom.
Spring shopping
The perfect time to start shedding those winter clothes is right now. What better way to celebrate the thawing of winter than with some new clothes? Spring fashion is one of our favorites with so many cute new dresses, lightweight sweaters and of course some new spring shoes. Yes, you can still shop and treat yourself to something new and oh so cute and keep your social distance all thanks to the wonderful technology of online shopping. Rather have your very own personal stylist shop for you? Stitchfix is one of our faves! Simply take the style quiz, upload your favorite styles and your personal shopper will select new clothes and accessories personalized just for you. Send back what you don’t like and keep what you do. And don’t forget to grab a new Portovino bag to go along with your new adorable outfits.
Plant the garden
Perfect weather to start getting your garden ready. Spend a few hours out in the garden, weeding and clearing the winter debris. Get the soil ready and start thinking about what you want to plant. If this is your first foray in gardening, you can keep it simple by buying an herb garden kit or flower garden kit. You can grow from there (no pun intended). Ask yourself - Are you a flower or vegetable and fruit kinda person? Once you know, you can start adding plants from your local nursery. Online is always an option as well if you want to avoid the crowds. This is a great family activity as well - so get the kids to pitch in and let them plant their own flowers.
Spring decorating in your home
Spread springtime cheer by sprucing up your home with some pops of Spring. Add a few springtime plants to your home, grab some bright colored throw pillows and add some pops of color to your home. Chase away the winter blues with spring pastels and watch the mood change. Perfect time to put those screen doors in and let that fresh air fill your home. Get your patio ready by digging out your patio furniture (or treating yourself to some new furniture) and grab a glass of wine and sit outside and watch the sunset. Don’t have any patio furniture, grab a blanket and sit on the grass and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
Host a virtual wine party
One thing we love to do at the start of Spring is to celebrate with a small gathering of friends and have a wine party. Toast to the change of the seasons and for all good things to come. This year we will host a virtual wine party in light of the pandemic our country is facing. Facetime a few friends, have a toast and connect and those we love.
Whatever you do, Spring is here so take some time to celebrate and just enjoy the change. How do you celebrate Spring? Remember to take the time to stop and smell the roses even in these trying times. Take care of yourself and your loved ones and stay safe. And don’t forget the wine :) - I mean toilet paper is good and all, but I am stocking up on the wine.
